Gur fateh kaursakhi ji

In 1699 the tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh, chose Vaisakhi as the occasion to transform the Sikhs into a family of soldier saints, known as the Khalsa Panth. It marks the beginning of the Sikh new year.In Sikhism, it is one of the most significant holidays in the Sikh calendar, commemorating the establishment of the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib in 1699.

The main celebration takes place at Talwandi Sabo (where Guru Gobind Singh stayed for nine months and completed the recompilation of the Guru Granth Sahib), and in the gurdwara at Anandpur Sahib, the birth place of Khalsa and at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

He said whenever and wherever five baptized (Amritdhari) Sikhs come together, the Guru would be present. All those who receive Amrit from five baptized Sikhs will be infused with the spirit of courage and strength to sacrifice. Thus with these principles he established Panth Khalsa, the Order of the Pure Ones.

At the same time the Guru gave his new Khalsa a unique, indisputable, and distinct identity. The Guru gave the gift of bana, the distinctive Sikh clothing and headwear. He also offered five emblems of purity and courage. These symbols, worn by all baptized Sikhs of both sexes, are popularly known today as Five Ks: Kesh, unshorn hair; Kangha, the wooden comb; Karra, the iron (or steel) bracelet; Kirpan, the sword; and Kachera, the underwear. By being identifiable, no Sikh could never hide behind cowardice again.

hope this information will help u as jujhar ji has said you can also lsten to veerjis cassets

Dear Ashpinder  ji... Thanx for sharing Vaisakhi's meaning with all of us...

While reading Gurbani we also come across Vaisakhi meaning as in the cassettee of Vaisakh which Jujhar Veer is referring to..

In Gurbani, it is referred as name of a month in which we realise being departed from the omnipresent GOD; on checking we feel that we are departed becoz we are focussing only in achieving material possessions and due to which we do not value contentment; peace of mind; gratitude with which we can stay in ever happiness & balanced state of mind in which we will always stay in tuned with GOD/wisdom/laws of nature.. So, when we start thinking that i am departed from GOD/the ocean of virtues then only we can think creative how can we stay in line this thought..

If we realise this state of mind everytime then we can say that we are in Vaisakh every moment and not just for a month..
We can be Happy or WE can be Right!!!

Choice is ours...
